You can draft well and still miss the point. The Commanders did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to tight end, which was the need that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
On value alone, Alexander makes the weekend a net positive. Every board in the league had Webb lower, and that gap is the story.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 29 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 29, where Aireontae Ersery graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jack Bech at pick 79 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Darius Alexander in the 148th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jason Marshall Jr. at the Round 6 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They went early on Clay Webb in No. 238, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Tonka Hemingway went about where he belonged in the 250th pick. It fills a real need, too.
