The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 250th pick on Jasheen Davis a full 111 spots early.
On value alone, Skattebo makes the weekend a net positive. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Shavon Revel Jr. at slot 29 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cameron Williams at pick No. 65 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Xavier Restrepo at No. 79 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Cam Skattebo at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jordan Phillips in the 155th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Joshua Gray at the 207th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value said wait; Barryn Sorrell in No. 238 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
They talked themselves into Jasheen Davis at Round 7, Pick 32, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
