This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Hollin Pierce, the No. 118 name on the board, stolen at the 148th overall pick. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a weapon on the perimeter, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Benjamin Morrison worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Deone Walker in the 79th overall pick, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Hollin Pierce was still sitting there in the 148th pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Hayden Conner. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Cam Horsley was the payoff at slot 238. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tonka Hemingway in pick No. 250 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
