The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The Williams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

They paid sticker price for Caleb Williams in No. 2, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Troy Fautanu at Round 2, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quiet steal in pick 40: Brian Thomas Jr. for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 3 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A clean, defensible pick in the 102nd overall pick with a little surplus value in Zak Zinter. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Jaheim Bell went about where he belonged in pick No. 141. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylan Ford at the 181st pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Miyan Williams at slot 223 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
