The Commanders torched the value chart for Oluwafemi Oladejo, taking him 90 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
On value alone, Bryant makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They did well to land Deone Walker in the 72nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Jack Bech was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Oluwafemi Oladejo, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a cornerback like Cobee Bryant reach Round 6, Pick 29 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tonka Hemingway at slot 238 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Torricelli Simpkins III at par in slot 250, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Eric Gregory at pick No. 252 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
