The Commanders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Aeneas Peebles, the No. 85 name on the board, in the 128th pick. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Dellinger reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board fumbled Jalon Walker all the way to the 41st overall pick, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They robbed the room for T.J. Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Aeneas Peebles in pick 128 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Garrett Dellinger well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
