Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Commanders never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If Mauigoa pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Mykel Williams at No. 36 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 60 with a little surplus value in Luke Lachey. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on J. Michael Sturdivant in Round 4, Pick 11; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Davison Igbinosun went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Francisco Mauigoa at the 164th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They jumped the gun on Dylan Fairchild, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
