They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Paul pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They banked enough surplus on Beebe to cover a lot of smaller sins. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
A reach on Chris Braswell in the 36th pick; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good price on Tyler Guyton in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They talked themselves into Patrick Paul at No. 40, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had cheaper options than Cade Stover at the 67th overall pick, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cooper Beebe at pick 78 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Kamren Kinchens at slot 100 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A straight-up fair deal on Brenden Rice at pick No. 121, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Isaac Guerendo in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Trente Jones at pick No. 222 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
