You build a draft on nights like this. Cam Skattebo had no business being available in Round 5, Pick 10, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tre Harris in pick No. 55. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Marcus Mbow at pick 61 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in the 86th pick, with Donovan Ezeiruaku worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Cam Skattebo in the 149th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a cornerback like Cobee Bryant reach slot 207 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Seth McLaughlin in Round 7, Pick 20, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tonka Hemingway at No. 250 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
