You build a draft on nights like this. CJ Allen had no business being available in the 71st pick, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They will need Foster to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Circle this one: CJ Allen at the 71st overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Malik Benson in the 147th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Domani Jackson in Round 6, Pick 6, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Kaelon Black in slot 209; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Bryce Foster at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
