The Commanders' one glaring miss is tight end, a need they left exactly as they found it.
They are betting Moore proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Bernard pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They went 2 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The back end got a real overhaul.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 7 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A quiet steal in the 71st overall pick: Germie Bernard for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Louis Moore in pick 147 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in the 189th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Harrison Wallace III in Round 6, Pick 28 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Xavier Nwankpa at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Fair-plus on Aiden Fisher, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
