When a board-topper like Jack Nelson slides to the 225th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Commanders did not. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Commanders indulged a want in Smith while a need in quarterback and interior defensive lineman stayed open.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Commanders paired the rookies with proven help, Josey Jewell leading the way.

In the end it comes back to Amarius Mims, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
