The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jamari Thrash, pick 223, roughly 53 picks past where he belonged.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The veteran additions, A.J. Terrell chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Olumuyiwa Fashanu and all.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Olumuyiwa Fashanu at par in pick 8, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
In slot 17 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 18 they get a problem off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 42nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
The board fumbled J.J. McCarthy all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, Braelon Allen went about where he belonged in the 100th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Luke Lachey in pick No. 102, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 18: Marshawn Kneeland for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Beaux Limmer in pick No. 142 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Jamari Thrash at No. 223 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
