The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Bo Nix, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The Rosengarten pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Keon Coleman slid further than he should have, and No. 36 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ennis Rakestraw Jr.. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Rod Moore at pick No. 67 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Audric Estime at the 100th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Marshawn Kneeland at Round 4, Pick 2, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Javon Foster at pick 141. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kaden Prather in the 181st overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in the 197th overall pick, with Steve Linton worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Roger Rosengarten in Round 6, Pick 42 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Omar Speights at No. 219 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board had Zakhari Franklin higher than the Round 7 slot, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
