They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Demorie Tate, 40 picks early at the Round 7 slot. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
The Bullard steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Justin Fields gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 8 they get a cornerstone up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in pick No. 36, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Chris Braswell at the 43rd pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Blake Corum at slot 67 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Javon Bullard in Round 3, Pick 37 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Payton Wilson in No. 102 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jaheim Bell in the 141st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Roger Rosengarten in pick 181 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Demorie Tate well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
