They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That Bishop pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.5 · Pick 5 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 7
In the 5th overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 27
Value with a capital V on Tyler Guyton in pick No. 36, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Morgan at slot 37 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Ladd McConkey · WR · rank 34
Nothing to complain about; Ladd McConkey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 50
T.J. Tampa slid further than he should have, and pick 67 is lovely value for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 75
Mike Sainristil at No. 78 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Jalen McMillan · WR · rank 100
Jalen McMillan in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 118
Blake Fisher at Round 4, Pick 23 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 105
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Cole Bishop in the 127th overall pick, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 130
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ben Sinnott at the Round 5 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.16 · Pick 152 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 165
They liked Marist Liufau enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 152. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R7.2 · Pick 222 · Jared Wiley · TE · rank 206
Jared Wiley at Round 7, Pick 2 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
