The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Worthy value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
It is not that Green is a bad player; it is that the Commanders had louder needs to answer first.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Chop Robinson in the 36th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Amarius Mims in pick 40. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Nubin at No. 48 is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy little value on Kingsley Suamataia in pick No. 67, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Ja'Lynn Polk went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Worthy reach slot 87 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Renardo Green while clear needs at tight end, running back and other spots sat open.
They did well to land Andru Phillips in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Mohamed Kamara at Round 5, Pick 3 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kitan Oladapo in pick 174, plain and simple. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
The board had Malik Mustapha higher than the 184th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Kamal Hadden in slot 198 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Cornelius Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Johnny Dixon at the 222nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nathan Thomas at No. 241 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
