Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Commanders spent the Round 3 slot on Jordan Travis, a name most had 38 spots down the list.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Cooper DeJean. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brandon Dorlus this early at Round 2, Pick 7. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Devontez Walker well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jordan Travis at the 100th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
