If confidence were a draft strategy, the Commanders would have aced it. Ben Sinnott at pick 100 is 33 spots clear of where he belonged.
The Turner steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Olumuyiwa Fashanu at par in pick No. 7, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Taliese Fuaga was the payoff at slot 36. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Dallas Turner graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Quinyon Mitchell at pick 71 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ben Sinnott this early at the 100th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Mohamed Kamara is a better player than Round 4, Pick 7 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Cameron Ward in No. 144 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, De'Corian Clark at pick 185. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Shemar Turner at the 228th pick is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
