Somebody took the Commanders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Chambers pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Coleman.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Brock Bowers at Round 1, Pick 10 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
In pick 18 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Keon Coleman at pick No. 67 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Audric Estime at No. 101 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Sataoa Laumea all the way to the 138th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for Steele Chambers in slot 181; a little patience would have been rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Josh Proctor in the 220th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
