You could see the war room lean forward. Jalon Walker at slot 61 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Reaching for Slackman left real value on the table behind him. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

They barely believed it either: Jalon Walker still on the board at slot 61. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Alfred Collins reach pick No. 79 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Savion Williams was still sitting there in the 146th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on O'Donnell Fortune. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joey Slackman well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Jamaree Caldwell in No. 247 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
