It is the swing that defines the weekend: Steven Parker in pick 247, a good 68 spots before the room expected him. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They banked enough surplus on Warren to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
You do not let a linebacker like Jihaad Campbell reach No. 61 and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Taking Tyler Warren in slot 82 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They read the board right and Tai Felton was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 37. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Rylie Mills in pick 146 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Davison Igbinosun at the 210th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jamaree Caldwell well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A big swing on Trey Wedig at pick 240, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Steven Parker this early at slot 247. It fills a real need, too.
