Somebody took the Commanders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Getting Cowing where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The Turner reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 7 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
In slot 14 they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
In the 24th pick they get a seam-stretching tight end at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy little value on Keon Coleman in the 39th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Chris Braswell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Blake Fisher at No. 100 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Kiran Amegadjie at pick No. 107 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tyler Guyton at Round 5, Pick 8 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cam Hart at the 185th overall pick is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a wide receiver like Jacob Cowing reach No. 228 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
