Call it larceny. Jeffrey Bassa sat on the board until the Round 6 slot, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They are betting Griffith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Charles Grant at the 79th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Davison Igbinosun in pick 197 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Jeffrey Bassa still on the board at slot 203. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Value said wait; Thor Griffith in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Ollie Gordon II here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
