They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.
The Suamataia pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get a building block for the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick 23 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Jackson Powers-Johnson slid further than he should have, and the 40th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Xavier Worthy was the payoff at the 67th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jermaine Burton at slot 78 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Kingsley Suamataia at No. 100 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Maason Smith at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at Round 5, Pick 3, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Marist Liufau in pick No. 152 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
