They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.
They will need Sinnott to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
A reach for Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 36; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Patrick Paul at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Chris Braswell is a better player than Round 3, Pick 3 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Darius Robinson at slot 101 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ben Sinnott in the 103rd pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let MarShawn Lloyd come to them and pounced at pick 138. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on Javon Baker in the 181st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Blake Watson in Round 7, Pick 27 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
