The Commanders looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Cam Hart at the 102nd overall pick regardless, 35 picks early. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Jordan pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Spending an early pick on safety with interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Dallas Turner at Round 1, Pick 11, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in the 27th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kamren Kinchens. A minor itch, scratched.
J.J. McCarthy in pick No. 36 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They liked Jackson Powers-Johnson enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ja'Tavion Sanders at No. 42 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They went early on Malachi Corley in No. 67, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.

They paid sticker price for Michael Barrett in slot 181, and that is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A quiet steal in the 223rd pick: Jawhar Jordan for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
