The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Tre Harris slide 49 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. If Hart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a problem off the edge. A real need, handled.
Keon Coleman at No. 36 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 39 with a little surplus value in Edgerrin Cooper. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Sedrick Van Pran in the 60th pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Amarius Mims at pick No. 71 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Blake Fisher at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tate Ratledge a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Adisa Isaac in the 109th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cam Hart at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Raheim Sanders at slot 185 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Oronde Gadsden II in the 187th overall pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zy Alexander in pick No. 228 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tre Harris at Round 7, Pick 29 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
