Call it larceny. Cedric Gray sat on the board until the 172nd pick, and the Eagles did not need to be asked twice. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The cost of the Shipley reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Xavier Worthy in the 32nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Terrion Arnold at pick No. 51 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Mekhi Wingo at the 64th pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Andrew Mukuba in Round 3, Pick 34 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Cole Bishop went about where he belonged in slot 137. It fills a real need, too.
Will Shipley at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Cedric Gray in pick 172 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They barely believed it either: Mike Sainristil still on the board at No. 178. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Storm Duck in the 253rd overall pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
