Somebody in pick 97 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Denzel Burke, the No. 56 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They are betting Gadsden II proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a matchup problem out wide at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Dallas Turner in No. 51, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Denzel Burke at pick No. 97 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Troy Fautanu all the way to Round 5, Pick 1, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
A straight-up fair deal on Cameron Ward at slot 147, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Oronde Gadsden II at the 172nd overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A slide stopped in pick 178, with Will Shipley worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Eric Gentry at the Round 7 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
