Call it larceny. Cooper Beebe sat on the board until the 79th pick, and the Eagles did not need to be asked twice. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Rome Odunze slid further than he should have, and pick 22 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
DJ James in No. 53 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No edge and no loss on Mike Sainristil in the 74th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Cooper Beebe all the way to pick No. 79, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Davis at Round 4, Pick 20 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Luke McCaffrey is a better player than slot 161 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Dallin Holker in the 171st overall pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jaylan Ford at the Round 6 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor itch, scratched.
