The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jawhar Jordan, pick 248, roughly 21 picks past where he belonged.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 27 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Guyton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Denzel Burke at the 59th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Braden Fiske slid further than he should have, and No. 97 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on James Williams in slot 137; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 5, Pick 20 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Joe Milton III in the 172nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and J. Michael Sturdivant was the payoff at pick No. 178. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A running back of that caliber at pick 248 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
