Somebody in Round 3, Pick 34 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Jermaine Burton, the No. 57 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

Every board in the league had Gadsden II lower, and that gap is the story. They will answer for taking defensive back early while cornerback, edge rusher and other spots went begging.

They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 13
Rome Odunze at No. 32 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 47
Patrick Paul in the 51st pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · T.J. Tampa · DB · rank 40
They bypassed pressing needs at cornerback, edge rusher and other spots to take T.J. Tampa, a defensive back that was not the priority.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Jermaine Burton · WR · rank 57
Somehow Jermaine Burton was still sitting there in slot 97, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Max Melton · DB · rank 100
The board fumbled Max Melton all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
R5.14 · Pick 150 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 138
Joe Milton III in Round 5, Pick 14 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Oronde Gadsden II · TE · rank 193
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Oronde Gadsden II well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Will Shipley · RB · rank 167
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Will Shipley at pick No. 178. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.39 · Pick 214 · Isaiah Adams · OT · rank 199
Isaiah Adams slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 39 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.33 · Pick 253 · Carson Steele · RB · rank 235
Carson Steele in the 253rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
