The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Chau Smith-Wade slide 72 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Every board in the league had Davis lower, and that gap is the story. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Somehow Quinyon Mitchell was still sitting there in pick 50, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bralen Trice at the 54th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Roman Wilson all the way to slot 97, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wild overpay on Isaiah Davis in the 160th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Jaheim Bell still on the board at Round 5, Pick 34. The roster fit checks out.
Jaylen Wright is a better player than No. 171 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Chau Smith-Wade here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
