Some picks age like wine; Trevor Etienne at the 231st overall pick will need to, sitting 66 spots clear of his grade. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Getting McCord where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Abdul Carter well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Josh Simmons in pick 77 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kevin Winston Jr.. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for LT Overton. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Samuel Brown in No. 185, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Tony Grimes at the 202nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Trevor Etienne in Round 7, Pick 17 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kyle McCord at slot 243 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
