The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Ashton Jeanty, the No. 2 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 5 slot like a gift left on the doorstep.
For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get juice off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
They will replay Walter Nolen at Round 2, Pick 12 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Wyatt Milum in pick 76 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

A cornerback of that caliber at slot 173 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Savion Williams in the 186th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 209 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
