The Dolphins spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: M.J. Devonshire, the No. 191 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 21. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Braden Fiske at slot 55, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Thomas. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Williams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in pick No. 198, with Daijun Edwards worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
M.J. Devonshire in Round 7, Pick 21 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It adds depth where they could use a little.
