The Packers went off the board in a big way for Jaden Hicks, 50 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

The Bishop pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and tight end still on the board. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

DeJean at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 39
Chop Robinson in the 41st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 107
Jaden Hicks in the Round 2 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 78
They let Cooper Beebe come to them and pounced at slot 88. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Jamari Thrash · WR · rank 91
No edge and no loss on Jamari Thrash in the 92nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 128
A surprising call. With quarterback and tight end still to address, they spent pick 125 on Cole Bishop, a safety they were not short of.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 151
They paid up for Braelon Allen at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 201
Omar Speights at pick 203 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Zion Logue · DL · rank 241
They talked themselves into Zion Logue at the 217th pick, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 233
The board had cheaper options than Matthew Jones at No. 219, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 249
Dwight McGlothern in slot 246 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
