The Packers bet big and early on Mohamed Kamara, 42 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Green.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jonathon Brooks at No. 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Renardo Green is a better player than the 88th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Value said wait; Mohamed Kamara in Round 3, Pick 28 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Trevor Keegan at the 126th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached into another round for Ryan Flournoy, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
