Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Dolphins, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.
So much rides on Bo Nix that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
The Dolphins indulged a want in Rakestraw Jr. while a need in interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots stayed open. Getting Rakestraw Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
Dallas Turner in the Round 1 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
In the 21st overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 24th pick they get the face of the franchise. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Tyler Guyton in No. 35, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value with a capital V on Quinyon Mitchell in pick No. 39, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jonah Elliss at Round 2, Pick 21 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 56 on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. with interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots unsolved.
They did well to land Christian Haynes in slot 79, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Mohamed Kamara at par in Round 4, Pick 17, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dylan Laube in No. 155 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
