After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Gray pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 2 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Guyton at slot 36 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Chris Braswell in the 40th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Cade Stover in pick No. 67, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They read the board right and Max Melton was the payoff at No. 88. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Cedric Gray at Round 3, Pick 37 when waiting would have done the job. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
