There is conviction, and then there is this. The Seahawks took Caden Curry a full 66 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The Taaffe pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The back end got a real overhaul.
So much rides on D'Angelo Ponds that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a press-man option on the boundary, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Caden Curry well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Michael Taaffe at pick No. 96 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Keagen Trost worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
