Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Terrance Ferguson at the 209th pick is 46 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
They banked enough surplus on Dart to cover a lot of smaller sins. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Deone Walker higher than slot 44, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on TreVeyon Henderson in pick 77, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Rylie Mills went about where he belonged in No. 113. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Logan Brown in pick No. 151 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Davison Igbinosun this early at Round 5, Pick 31. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Jaxson Dart at pick 170 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Hunter Wohler at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A slide stopped in the 188th overall pick, with Gunnar Helm worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Terrance Ferguson. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
