The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 233 on Trente Jones a full 74 spots early. A mixed bag that lands at C.
However the rest shakes out, Washington at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a problem off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Blake Corum this early at pick No. 56. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A real head-scratcher, Marist Liufau in pick 87 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jordan Travis in Round 4, Pick 29, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Walter Rouse in slot 174 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Tahj Washington all the way to No. 216, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Trente Jones in pick 233 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Ryan Cooper Jr. in No. 244, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
