The rest of the league will want that one back. Tahj Brooks tumbling to the Cowboys in the 190th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 26 they get a weapon on the perimeter, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value with a capital V on Omarion Hampton in No. 44, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Cameron Williams in Round 3, Pick 12, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Barrett Carter was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Riley Leonard at the 152nd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick No. 170 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for O'Donnell Fortune here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Emery Jones Jr. at slot 174 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Tahj Brooks still on the board at slot 190. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Jaylen Reed was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 33, and they pounced on premier safety value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jason Marshall Jr. at pick 234 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in No. 249, with Ty Hamilton worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
