This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Quinshon Judkins, the No. 84 name on the board, stolen at Round 6, Pick 34.
If Lacy pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Luther Burden III in pick 13 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Omarion Hampton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Malaki Starks at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 150th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Dani Dennis-Sutton was still sitting there in pick No. 169, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid up for Nazir Stackhouse at slot 170 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 33, where Joshua Gray graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Kyren Lacy at No. 190, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Quinshon Judkins all the way to slot 209, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
