Some picks age like wine; Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins at pick No. 249 will need to, sitting 147 spots clear of his grade. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The Howard steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Omarion Hampton at No. 44 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Maxwell Hairston at pick No. 76 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into JJ Pegues at the 150th pick, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Darius Alexander reach Round 5, Pick 31 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Will Howard in slot 172 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
