The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Nazir Stackhouse went at the 154th pick, a good 45 picks before the board was ready.
Nelson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.

They barely believed it either: Jack Nelson still on the board at Round 5, Pick 31. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Mitchell Evans in slot 172 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A premium they did not need to pay, Antwane Wells Jr. a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
