Call it larceny. Kalel Mullings sat on the board until slot 201, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice.
The cost of the Williams reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get a three-down runner, and a steal at that.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jalon Walker at No. 45 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Trey Amos was the payoff at the 76th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Deontae Lawson at the 151st overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Lathan Ransom at Round 5, Pick 30 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Harold Perkins Jr. in slot 171 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Smael Mondon Jr. at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Logan Jones at pick 195 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Kalel Mullings all the way to pick No. 201, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Savion Williams in Round 6, Pick 34 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
