The Cowboys ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
If Hicks pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper in No. 56 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had cheaper options than Audric Estime at Round 3, Pick 24, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaden Hicks at the 88th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Good price on Jarrian Jones in the 124th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
